  • Postpartum education that will improve your postpartum time that is preventative medicine for perinatal mood disorders, relationship troubles (divorce, separation, etc.)

You Will Also Learn:

  • How ancient postpartum traditions throughout the world all share deep common roots. These traditional “prescriptions” all point to the importance of an extended resting period, warmth, specific foods, bodywork, and community support after birth. These traditions also teach that how mother is cared for in the postpartum time will be reflected in her lifelong health and menopause. These common threads in ALL traditional ways of caring for a postpartum mother reflect one another because they are rooted in physiology. We will explore every “prescription” in depth together.

  • The “WHY” behind postpartum care. When we understand “why” we do something, we understand the purpose of it so we can begin to place value on postpartum care. This ‘WHY’ has been largely forgotten in modern culture. We can shift from the dominant cultural paradigm of “postpartum care is a luxury” to “postpartum care is a necessity.”

  • About the profound changes that occur through the childbearing continuum; understanding the implications of physiologic appropriate postpartum care- for women’s life-long health.

Investment:

  • This class is meant for mothers and partner/or family/friend that will be their main support. The class fee of $400 covers mother and one partner/support person. Other family members who will be supporting mother during the postpartum time are also encouraged to attend— additional family members cost $185.

  • It is essential that not just mothers are receiving postpartum care education, but all of those who love mothers do as well.

  • This class is not for doulas/ midwives/ other maternal health care providers. If they are interested in this material please refer to Innate Postpartum Care Practitioner training.

Logistics:

  • Ideally this class is taken by mothers/families between 25- 34 weeks gestation. This way, the class series will be complete before mothers probable window of giving birth.

  • This series will have 5 classes in total:

    • Class 1: What Is Innate Postpartum Care

    • Class 2: The First 3 Postpartum Care Essentials

    • Class 3: The 4th & 5th Postpartum Care Essentials

    • Class 4: Postpartum Care Planning- unique plans for each family

    • Class 5: Community Celebration- A class when all families are 6-weeks postpartum. The purpose of this 5th and final class of the Innate Community Series, is for community celebration and witnessing of the MOTHERS especially, and of the Fathers/Partners — FROM the families that gathered prenatally for the first 4-classes of the series. When we pass through an initiation/a passage (in this case BIRTH), but we are not acknowledged and celebrated by our community, disorientation and depression result. So, WE will come back together to complete the Rite of Passage.

  • Approximately 3 1/2hour classes each time.

  • Dates: Sundays April 23, April 30, May 7, May 14, final class post-birth TBD
